The following files are changed by RTG Bills or RTG Timer. Except as noted, they are copied to the Backup Folder by the File > Backup command in RTG Bills or RTG Timer.

However, we recommend that you do a frequent backup of all files in the RTG Bills and RTG Timer folders, including the program files, as explained in Safeguarding Your Data.

If you need to move the program to another computer, or restore the program after a hard disk crash, see Moving To A New Computer.

RTGBILLS.MDB
The RTG Bills database; contains timekeepers, clients, matters, codes, fees and expenses, payments and adjustments, and other information

RTGTIMER.MDB
The RTG Timer database; contains fees and expenses that were entered into one copy of RTG Timer

RTGBILLS.INI
Contains settings for RTG Bills; can be recreated by the program if you delete it, but you will lose your settings

RTGTIMER.INI
Contains settings for RTG Timer; can be recreated by the program if you delete it, but you will lose your settings

Other INI files
INI files contain settings for each user and for several programs that are used by RTG Bills; can be recreated, but the settings will be lost

ABBREV.DAT
Shorthand codes for RTG Bills and/or RTG Timer

FMT01.RTG, BILL01.RTG, etc.
Bill formats for RTG Bills:

• FMTnn.RTG contains the choices you made in creating bill format number "nn"
• BILLnn.RTG contains the actual instructions for printing the bill with format "nn" (and can be edited directly with LAYOUT.EXE)
• BILLnnn.RTG (3-digit numbers) are formats used internally by RTG Bills (e.g., the prebill format)
• EBILLnn.RTG contains the electronic bill format for format number "nn" (if you have installed RTG E-Bills)

ARCHIVE.DAT
Deleted matters and their transactions; not backed up by RTG Bills prior to Version 2.02 (and optional after that)

OLDBILLS
This folder contains instructions for reprinting bills; each file YYYYMMDD.BIL contains all the bills printed on one date (YYYYMMDD is the date); not backed up by RTG Bills prior to Version 2.02 (and optional after that)

REPT001.RTG, etc.
Report formats; supplied by RTG, but you may have modified the reports, or created custom reports, with the RTG Report Editor (RED); not backed up by RTG Bills/Timer

DICTUS.WDS
Spelling dictionary for RTG Bills and/or RTG Timer; not backed up by RTG Bills/Timer

TIMER.XFR
Fees and expenses released by standalone copies of RTG Timer; only exists when there are unread RTG Timer transactions that RTG Bills should read; not backed up by RTG Bills
