RTG Offers Electronic Billing SoftwareSanta Monica, California; February 20, 2001 -- RTG has announced the release of RTG E-Bills, which allows law firms to prepare electronic bills ("e-bills") for their clients. RTG E-Bills works in conjunction with RTG's PC-based time and billing programs, RTG Bills and RTG Timer. Because different clients require different electronic bill formats, RTG E-Bills has been designed to be flexible. The industry-standard LEDES 1998B format is supported, but other formats can be produced as well. RTG Bills and RTG Timer can capture the task codes, activity codes, and expense codes often used in electronic billing. Different matters can be assigned different code tables and different e-bill formats, so a firm can accommodate clients with varying e-bill requirements. Electronic bills are intended to be read by analysis software, so they are not easily understood by humans. For that reason, RTG Bills creates a standard printed bill that the firm can keep in-house, then it calls on RTG E-Bills to create e-bills, each in a separate disk file, for the clients that require them. RTG E-Bills is licensed as an add-on product to RTG Bills. The cost is $199. RTG Bills is designed for small law firms and sole practitioners. It combines the ease-of-use of Windows with the power and reliability of a relational database. RTG Timer, included with RTG Bills, uses a computerized "stopwatch" so that attorneys can time their work as they perform it. RTG Timer can communicate with RTG Bills over a network, or it can be used independently on a notebook computer or a home PC. RTG Bills, RTG Timer, and RTG E-Bills are compatible with Windows Me, Windows 98, and Windows 95, and with any network which supports Windows PCs. RTG also offers RTG Timer HE, which is compatible with handheld computers running the Palm OS. RTG offers free demonstration versions of RTG Bills, RTG Timer, and RTG Timer HE on its Web site at www.rtgsoftware.com so that potential buyers can evaluate the programs before they purchase them.
