RTG Adds Features To Time and Billing Software

Santa Monica, California; October 1, 2001 -- RTG has announced a new release of RTG Bills, its low-cost time and billing program for Windows. Version 2.05 offers many new features, including:

  • Fee and expense thresholds, to prevent a bill from being generated until the threshold amount is reached
  • Recurring charges, so monthly or quarterly fees can be billed automatically
  • A letterhead design capability, allowing the use of different fonts and font sizes
  • Expenses imported from QuickBooks, to eliminate the need to enter expense checks twice
  • Optional hidden billing rates in RTG Timer, so data entry personnel cannot see timekeeper rates
  • Improved multi-user operation, with less conflict between users when bills are viewed or printed

"RTG Bills Version 2.05 adds many new features requested by our users," according to Robert Hallem, president of RTG. "At the same time, we continue to stress ease-of-learning and ease-of-use, so the program will not appear more complex even as we enhance it."

"Firms that have several people running RTG Bills simultaneously will notice a big improvement in multi-user operation," Hallem added. "For example, it is now possible for one person to be entering this month's fees for a matter while another person is printing last month's bill for that same matter."

The ability to import expenses from QuickBooks has been added to the existing Quicken import. A check written on behalf of a client is easily charged to a matter without entering the same information twice.

RTG Bills is designed for small law firms and sole practitioners. It combines the ease-of-use of Windows with the power and reliability of a relational database. RTG Timer, included with RTG Bills, uses a computerized "stopwatch" so that attorneys can time their work as they perform it. RTG Timer can communicate with RTG Bills over a network, or it can be used independently on a notebook computer or a home PC.

RTG Bills and RTG Timer Version 2.05 cost $75, which includes one license for RTG Timer. RTG's Web site offers free upgrades from previous releases of Version 2.

Related products include RTG Timer HE, for fee and expense entry on a Palm organizer, and RTG E-Bills, for the creation of electronic bills.

RTG Bills and RTG Timer are compatible with Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows 98, and Windows 95, and with any network which supports Windows PCs. RTG offers free demonstration versions of RTG Bills and RTG Timer on its Web site at www.rtgsoftware.com so that potential buyers can evaluate the programs before they purchase them.
