RTG Updates Time & Billing Software

Santa Monica, California, January 26, 1998 - RTG has announced the release of Version 1.17 of RTG Bills, a low-cost time and billing program for Windows. RTG Bills, which is designed for small law firms and sole practitioners, combines the ease-of-use of Windows with the power and reliability of a relational database.

"Our goal was to add capabilities to the program yet to keep it easy to understand and forgiving of mistakes," said Robert Hallem, president of RTG. "No complicated procedures are required to print bills with RTG Bills. There are no posting, updating, or finalizing steps. You enter fees, expenses, and payments, then you print the bills."

"This new version of RTG Bills adds the option of using a separate address for each of a client's matters," Hallem added. "You can copy the client address and add an attention line, or you can enter a completely different address for each matter. Another new feature is the ability to create a list of client addresses and separate lists of clients, matters, and codes. RTG Bills writes the lists in comma-delimited text format, which can be read by many other programs. For example, the client addresses can be read by Corel WordPerfect or Microsoft Word and they can be used to print labels or they can be merged with a form letter."

RTG Timer, included with RTG Bills, uses a computerized "stopwatch" so that attorneys can time their work as they perform it. Fees and expenses entered into RTG Timer are easily transferred to RTG Bills for billing. RTG Timer can either communicate with RTG Bills over a network, or it can be used independently on a notebook computer or a home computer.

An upgrade to the new version of RTG Bills is available at no charge on RTG's World Wide Web site at http://www.rtgsoftware.com or by mail for $15. New users can purchase the program for $50, which includes one license for RTG Timer. RTG Bills is compatible with Windows 95, Windows for Workgroups, and Windows 3.1. RTG offers free demonstration versions of RTG Bills and RTG Timer on its Web site so that potential buyers can evaluate the programs before they purchase them.
