RTG Enhances Time And Billing SoftwareSanta Monica, California; January 13, 2004 -- RTG has announced a new release of RTG Bills, its time and billing software for small law firms. This release of RTG Bills contains several new features. After RTG Bills prints the firm's bills, it can now print envelopes for each client's bill. It can also print an envelope for a particular matter, whether it has been billed or not. Usually RTG Bills determines the hourly rate for a fee from the rate table assigned to the matter. The rate table contains the hourly rate for each timekeeper. A new feature allows an activity code to specify a different rate table, thus overriding the usual rate. A typical use of this feature would be to specify an "in court" rate for a fee entry. A new Month button in RTG Timer displays a monthly calendar showing the total hours that have been entered for each day of the month. Double-clicking a date permits editing the transactions for that date. RTG Timer is a companion product that is included with RTG Bills. It is designed for rapid entry of fees and expenses. Other new features in this release include: new bill formatting options; a new optional method of selecting shorthand codes, which eliminate repetitive typing; and the ability to save prebills, historical bills, and reports to a disk file in a format that preserves their formatting. RTG Bills and RTG Timer cost $95, which includes one license for RTG Timer. RTG's Web site offers free upgrades from the previous release. RTG Bills is designed for law firms and sole practitioners. It combines the ease-of-use of Windows with the power and reliability of a relational database. RTG Timer, included with RTG Bills, uses a computerized "stopwatch" so that attorneys can time their work as they perform it. RTG Timer can communicate with RTG Bills over a network, or it can be used independently on a notebook computer or a home PC. Related products include RTG Timer HE for fee and expense entry on a Palm OS device, RTG Timer ME for fee and expense entry on a Windows Mobile or Pocket PC device, RTG E-Bills for the creation of electronic bills, and RTG Scripts for automating tasks in RTG Bills.
