Please wait while Windows configures . . .

Q: When I start RTG Bills, I get a message that says, Please wait while Windows configures (some program name).  How do I fix this?

A: We have had reports of this occurring on installations of RTG Bills that were working correctly.  The problem starts after you install or remove some other software, usually (but not always) the program named in the message.

The Windows Installer apparently causes this problem when an installation is incomplete.  RTG Bills does not use the Windows Installer, but some other software that does use it has been left in a partially-installed (or partially-uninstalled) state, which interferes with RTG Bills.

1. If the program mentioned in the error message is listed in the Add or Remove Programs list in the Windows Control Panel, remove the program if you don't need it, or install it again if you do.  Successful installation or removal of the program should fix the problem.
