RTG Bills Version 2.18 includes a few changes and bug fixes. (Released July 16, 2007.)

We suggest the use of Windows XP or Windows Vista with this version. While it should work with Windows 98 Second Edition or later, we do not test compatibility with versions of Windows older than XP.

1. Shorthand codes
   Each RTG Bills user now has a separate list of shorthand codes. You can export one user's codes and import them for a different user.
   
   We assume that if you have more than one RTG Bills user, you will turn on the security system by assigning a password to the Supervisor. Then each user must sign in with a user name and password. The shorthand codes are saved separately for each user name.
   
   
2. RTG Bills settings
   Only the Supervisor can make permanent changes to firm-wide settings. Other users can make temporary changes, but they are not saved when RTG Bills exits.
   
   
3. Item and matter discounts
   Item and matter discounts now appear together correctly on the bills. In the previous version, the billed amounts were correct but some of the numbers on the bill were incorrect.
   
   The Total discount on the bill includes all item discounts plus the matter discount.
   
   
4. Roundoff errors
   Roundoff errors that sometimes appeared in the calculation of late charges and taxes have been eliminated.
   
   
5. Item discounts explained
   The help information now includes a explanation of item discounts, which were introduced in the previous version. See Help > Contents > Other Topics > Item Discounts.
   
   
6. Matters on Hold report
   This report now includes Matter Notes. Previously, Matter Notes were only included in a custom report, Matters on Hold Plus Notes.
   
   
7. Closed Matters report
   This report now lets you choose a date range in addition to a matter range.
   
   
8. Improved retainer reports show group
   Two reports, Retainer Account Summary and Retainers Applied Automatically, show subtotals by group. Each group is meant to be a separate bank account, so the reports will show the total for each bank account.

  Requirements:
  1. RTG Bills V2.17. If you have an earlier version, you must upgrade to V2.17 first in order to use this free upgrade to V2.18.
     
     
  2. RTG Upgrade V2.19 or later. To check the version number, start RTG Bills and choose File > Upgrade > Yes > About. Get the latest version here.

  Upgrade Procedure:
  1. Start RTG Bills and choose File > Upgrade to begin the upgrade process. Once the upgrade program starts, make sure no one is using RTG Bills or RTG Timer.

  2. Be sure to upgrade both RTG Bills and RTG Timer. RTG Timer will only work properly if it has the same version number as RTG Bills.
